The Congenital Heart Disease Foundation of Nigeria (CHDFNigeria) is proud to announce its recent partnership in the successful 2-day medical outreach in Kaduna State, Nigeria. The project titled – Partnering to Effectively Strengthen the Primary Healthcare System for an Improved Maternal and Child Health (PIMACH) – was implemented by CHDFNigeria and other partners including Freeheart Africa Reach Out Foundation (FAROF), Society for Family Health (SFH), Baraudikko Teaching Hospital and selected Medical Practitioners in the state. The project was implemented on May 1st and 2nd, 2025 at Rafinguza and Nassarawa Communities in Kaduna State.
The outreach targeted underserved populations in both communities and aimed to provide free medical check, malaria testing and treatment, eye checks and glasses provision and cardiovascular health screenings, identifying congenital and acquired heart conditions, and strengthen partnerships with local healthcare institutions.
The outreach was a resounding success with a total of 500 individuals screened (400 adults, 100 children). 4 cases (3 pediatric, 1 adult) were flagged for advanced diagnostics and referred to specialized hospitals for further care. CHDFNigeria also strengthened ties with Baraudikko Teaching Hospital for long-term collaboration.
CHDFNigeria played an important role in the outreach, providing expertise and resources to support the heart screening and treatment efforts. Our team of medical professionals and volunteers were on hand to provide screenings, consultations, and treatment recommendations.
The Kaduna medical outreach is just one example of CHDFNigeria’s commitment to improving the lives of individuals with CHD in Nigeria. We will continue to work tirelessly to raise awareness about CHD, provide access to screening and treatment services, and support research and advocacy efforts.
