Nurse-a-thon Competition

The Congenital Heart Disease Foundation of Nigeria (CHDFNigeria) sponsored and attended the Nurseathon competition which held on the 11th of April at the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos State, as part of the 28th Annual General Assembly and Scientific Conference organized by the Nigerian Universities Nursing Students Association (NUNSA). The event, themed “Empowering Nurses: A Catalyst for Sustainable Healthcare in Africa,” was a healthcare-focused hackathon where nursing students developed digital health solutions to address critical healthcare challenges.

CHDFNigeria was represented at the event by Okoye Chidinma, Oyeleye Michael, and Afolabi Busola. This provided CHDFNigeria with an opportunity to network with nurses and other healthcare professionals, which led to the recruitment of 10 nursing students who expressed willingness to join the organization as volunteers, including some of the competition presenters.

The Nurseathon competition showcased several innovative digital health solutions through mobile applications some of which include: Healio app, End Nursing Quackery, Oncon+, and 360 Nurse. CHDFNigeria sponsorship of the Nurseathon event is a testament to its commitment to digital health innovations, education and training of healthcare workers. We look forward to continuing our work and collaborating with nursing professionals and other healthcare stakeholders to
improve the lives of those affected by CHD in Nigeria
