World Heart Summit

The Congenital Heart Disease Foundation of Nigeria (CHDFNigeria) is proud to announce its recent participation in the prestigious World Heart Summit from May 17th to 18th, 2025. The summit, which took place in Geneva, Switzerland, and organized by the World Heart Federation brought together over 160 global leaders and experts in health, policy, and finance to explore innovative solutions and new perspectives on heart.

As the foremost organization dedicated to improving the lives of children, adults and families affected by Congenital Heart Disease in Nigeria, CHDFNigeria seized the opportunity to learn from other experts and forge new partnerships to enhance its mission, represented by our founder and executive director, Mrs Christianah Onasanya, née Oyeleye.

Some of the topics discussed include: childhood obesity, indoor air pollution, effects of conflict, multimorbidity, inflammation, and urban health challenges. The discussions highlighted major challenges in research and policy, stressing the need for clear evidence and strong collaboration to improve heart health worldwide.

The World Heart Summit provided CHDFNigeria with a unique opportunity to connect with other organizations, institutions, and individuals who share its commitment to improving global health. The conversations with these organizations has created a platform for potential collaborations and partnerships that could significantly impact CHDFNigeria’s work and impact.

The World Heart Summit was a resounding success for CHDFNigeria. Our delegation returned inspired, energized, and more determined than ever to continue its mission to improve the lives of individuals affected by CHD in Nigeria.

As we look to the future, we look forward to forging new partnerships, leveraging innovative technologies, and advocating for increased investment in healthcare infrastructure and research in Nigeria. With the support of our partners, donors, and the global health community, we are confident that we can make a significant impact on CHD in Nigeria and contribute to the broader goal of achieving universal health coverage and improving global health.
